The website initially started out as a vehicle for promoting Sheikha Maryam Kabeer's book and selling imported items from her shop. As a spiritual leader she decided to change the objective of the website to a means of spreading her message of peace. Along with a comprehensive bio, the website shows a kaleidoscope of Mariam's international travels over the years.
Unite in the Light mood board
After Maryam Kabeer provided me with some ideas of her vision for the style and theme of the website, I created this moodboard. I brought together natural images that exude clarity and illumination with corresponding colors exuding from the sky, water, and forests. For the font, she was seeking a flowing script.

For the headlines, we chose a bold script font that keeps with her flowing theme. However, I had to insist on a simpler easy-to-read font for the text in the paragraphs.
Logo design process
Honoring the Muslim background of my client's Sufi faith, I was looking into Islamic designs for the logo. However, what really resonated with my client was the blue swirl design shown here. It followed her flowing theme nicely. We just had to make this icon her own for the Unite in the Light logo.
Solution
The chosen logo exhibits the swirl design and can be seen on the website and on branded videos. The design merges with Maryam's preference for a flowing style, and has the shape of a flame. This is fitting for Unite in the Light.
The website helps to spread the word of this spiritual leader's message of love and peace. Website visitors can view a series of video interviews, intro videos and photos of her extensive international travels, and can order her acclaimed memoir A Journey through Ten Thousand Veils
